Liberty Theatre in Fort Scott, KS (7/31/04)

Heads Up, Pond Monkeys, Quinton Cheney, Dilithium, and Army of Prawnz generously donated their time and talents to benefit the town of Fort Scott, KS.  Hosted by the Fort Scott Chamber of Commerce, proceeds from the show went toward town-cleaning projects.  The night was a success, bringing in about 200 people.  The show was also an experiment for three of the boys in Pond Monkeys.

When Pond Monkeys make a commitment to perform, they will follow through at any cost.  So when guitarist/bassist/drummer/vocalist Daniel Brasuell informed the rest of the band that he would be unable to play on July 31, 2004, after the show had been scheduled, the boys decided that the show must go on.  Over the course of 4 or 5 band practices, the remaining members of Pond Monkeys worked up an entire set of all-new originals and a couple of cover songs--an amazing feat for a band who has been known to spend countless hours on new material.  Alex, Austin, and Derek combined the sounds and ideas of the bands that inspired them into an almost seamless 50 minute set of epic proportions.  Keyboards, dueling drums, sound effects and sing-alongs were all included in the concert.  Though the eclectic and somewhat experimental performance was a success in the eyes of the band, the songs written specifically for the show will most likely never be performed again.
